What is “Right” and “Wrong” and the “Right” to live

I have been following this piece of news in the Facebook, regarding a case of dog abuse in a farm in Lim Chu Kang lane 1.

Abaandoned dog

In a make shift shelter there was a dog with raw maggot infested wound on his head and you can see the flesh being eaten away by the maggots and there was flies all over his body … sigh!

The old dog was chained up with a short rusty metal chain, in a vegetable farm and was stepping on the same piece of soil for more than 3 years, with minimal shelter over the dog, that equals to none, plus it is exposed to all elements no matter if it rain or shine, day or night.

For years and years, he was eating leftover junks and rotten food covered with ants and houseflies..

The bone and brain was clearly visible when he was discovered … and the itch caused by the houseflies feasting on the flesh resulted in the poor dog scratching endlessly.

The SPCA was infomed and took the dog back but yet unsure whether legal actions will be taken to the farm who is responsible.SPCA

The farm denied ownership of the animal and says only chained up the dog to prevent it from damaging the vegetation, insisting they did not own the dog, although it was chained and fed by their people IN THEIR PREMISES for years!

What follow after the search and rescue to save the dog, I learned only today that on the 17th August, at 7pm, SPCA came to remove the dog from the farmers premises. One might have though the dog was in good hands. But little did we know, it was put to sleep that very night after it was rescue by SPCA … sigh.

My question here is, who should be punish for the dog life, the “abuser” who is the farmer, for the cause of the raw maggot infested wound on the dog and its poor living condition? or the “murderer” which in this case, I am referring to SPCA for not giving the dog a change to live? The dog condition may look bad, but it was not beyond treatment. Was it the cost factor that decide the fate of the dog life, or was it the time consuming labor factor, the number of man hours needed to look after the dog during its recovery? I suppose it must be the cause of both factors that lead to its death.

Helpless dog

This also hit me that we have become such a un-compensational society,  that we do not even value life of a animal less a human. Is this the only solution to this problem? Just take a helpless, old and useless life away? Until now I am still at a stage of disbelieve, sad and shock!!!! I have no answers to this, the world has changed, what use to be “wrong” is now “right”, what use to be “right” is “wrong”. In this case’ does the dog has a “right” to live? If only he can talk, may he rest in peace.
